representing the music of Hans Christian.
Hans Christian’s work as a performer, producer, and composer has been documented on countless recording projects since he arrived in Los Angeles from Germany in 1982.Trained as a classical cellist and a professional bassist, Christian quickly developed as a talented recording artist and record producer, working in the 1980s with icons such as Robbie Robertson, Gene Clarke, Sparks, Billy Idol, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Toni Childs, Victoria Williams, and Daniel Lanois.
In the 1990s he branched out into the chant genre and collaborated with Krishna Das, Dave Stringer, Vas, Girish, and many others while living in the San Francisco area. In the 2000’s he started the renowned World Music group RASA (together with singer Kim Waters) and released six CDs to critical acclaim. He recently collaborated with internationally noted mystic/teacher Andrew Harvey on a CD called Rumi Symphony and with Canadian artist Harry Manx on a new CD called You Are The Music Of My Silence. He continues to collaborate with many artists from the USA and Europe as producer and performer. Besides offering his solo concerts, he is actively touring with The Guru Ganesha Band throughout North America, playing cello, nyckelharpa, sarangi, and sitara.
In addition, Hans has been an artist-in-residence with Wisdom University’s New Chartres Mystery School in Chartres, France since 2008, which garnered him rare access and repeated opportunities to perform and record in and around Chartres Cathedral. His work as producer and composer is based at STUDIO 330 in Sturgeon Bay, WI.
